Abstract：Historical and cultural blocks is the historical memory of the city, is the most essential difference between cities, but in the process of rapid urbanization, the development of historical and cultural blocks also exposed a variety of problems ; such as lack of street internal infrastructure and facilities aging, lack of supporting public service facilities ; the architectural style is damaged, and the protection status of material cultural heritage is poor ; lack of open space, poor living environment, etc. Based on the urban catalyst theory, this paper designs the historical and cultural block of the United Street in the old urban area of Nanyang City, determines and activates the point, line and surface type catalyst factors, and comprehensively and systematically designs the block from the aspects of planning structure, road landscape, road traffic and open space, in order to create a historical block with cultural and tourism integration, business and tourism cooperation, beautiful environment, convenient transportation and livable.
