A study of the impact of Digital Transformation on corporate pollution emissions

Abstract：The emergence of digital technologies has dramatically changed the way companies produce. How digital transformation will reshape firms\' production patterns and impact on pollution emissions is a key question in existing research.In this paper, we empirically examine the environmental effects induced by digital transformation using a series of Chinese firm-level data.We find that digital transformation has a negative impact on firms\' pollution emissions.After changing the variable measures for robustness testing, this paper verifies that the results are robust.Further research we find that factors related to green innovation play an important role in shaping the relationship between digital transformation and firms\' pollution emissions.This paper provides supportive evidence at the enterprise level for the pollution reduction effect of digital transformation, which is crucial for accelerating the construction of digital economy, promoting the synergistic effect of digital transformation and green development, and realizing the balanced development of economic growth and environmental governance.
