Research progress on acupoint thread embedding andits combined therapy for thetreatment of obesity

Abstract：Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by energy imbalance, excessive intake over consumption, and accumulation of body fat. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the key pathogenesis of obesity is the accumulation of water, dampness, phlegm, and turbidity caused by consuming a large amount of thick and flavored fat cream, which can lead to obesity. Acupoint thread embedding is one of the characteristic therapies of traditional Chinese medicine, which has a triple effect of needle, thread, and acupoint. Its clinical efficacy in treating obesity is significant, and it is popular due to its advantages of safety, effectiveness, simplicity, time-saving, and no adverse reactions. At present, research on acupoint thread embedding has been carried out from two aspects: first, research on clinical application; The second is research on the mechanism of action. This paper mainly searched the clinical literature research on acupoint catgut embedding for obesity in recent 5 years, summarized and combed from the aspects of simple acupoint catgut embedding, acupoint catgut embedding combined with electroacupuncture, acupoint catgut embedding combined with warm acupuncture, acupoint catgut embedding combined with auricular point therapy, and acupoint catgut embedding combined with Chinese medicine, analyzed its solutions and problems in treating obesity, and provided reference for clinical work and future research.
