面向TOF-PET的硅光电倍增管研究进展

摘要:正电子发射断层扫描(Positron Emission Tomography, PET)是一种分子成像方式。传统PET探测器基于闪烁晶体耦合到光电倍增管(PMT)。然而随着PET新应用的增长,双模态PET/ MRI系统以及飞行时间(TOF)技术的使用,TOF信息可以提高重建图像的信噪比,需要低成本、小尺寸、快速和磁场兼容的光电探测器。与传统PMT相比,硅光电倍增管(SiPM)继承了PMT的许多优点,同时还具有优良的定时特性,并且对磁场不敏感。目前,SiPM技术正在迅速发展,本文综述了硅光电倍增管和TOF-PET的工作原理及特点,同时介绍了在TOF-PET中使用的硅光电倍增管的最新进展。最后,对这一重要研究领域的未来发展方向进行展望。

Research progress of silicon photomultiplier tubes for TOF-PET
Abstract:Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a molecular imaging method. Conventional PET detectors are based on scintillation crystals coupled to photomultiplier tubes (PMT). However, with the growth of new PET applications, the use of dual-mode PET/ MRI systems, and time-of-flight (TOF) technology, TOF information can improve the signal-to-noise ratio of reconstructed images, requiring low cost, small size, fast, and field-compatible photodetectors. Silicon photomultiplier tubes (SiPMs) inherit many of the advantages of PMTS compared to traditional PMTS, but also have excellent timing characteristics and are not sensitive to magnetic fields. At present, SiPM technology is developing rapidly. This paper reviews the working principle and characteristics of silicon photomultiplier tube and TOF-PET, and introduces the latest development of silicon photomultiplier tube used in TOF-PET. Finally, the future development direction of this important research field is prospected.
