微环谐振器的调制特性分析

摘要:本文对单环微环谐振调制器进行了建模,提出了时域动态数值分析方法,并采用该方法对其调制特性进行了深入的研究。通过正弦信号调制,研究了耦合强度调制、折射率调制和传输损耗调制的调制输出特性及调制带宽。通过高斯脉冲信号调制,分析了在不同调制方式下的调制输出信号的波形特征,包括脉冲宽度、脉冲延时、线性度、以及临界耦合状态对调制输出信号波形的影响。研究结果表明,不同的调制方式具有不同的调制带宽特性,耦合强度调制可获得极大的调制带宽,几乎不受限。为获得无展宽,无失真,无延时的脉冲调制输出,单环微环谐振调制器应工作在临界耦合点处。

Analysis of Modulation Characteristics of Microring Resonators
Abstract:The model and dynamic numerical solution are proposed and used to deeply analyze the single-ring microring resonator modulators. The microring resonator modulator is modulated with sinusoidal signals to study the modulation output characteristics and modulation bandwidths of refractive index modulation, loss modulation and coupling strength modulation. The microring resonator modulator is modulated with Gaussian pulse signals based on different modulation modes to analyze the pulse width, pulse delay, linearity, and the impact of critical coupling state to modulation output singal waveform. Results show that the modulation output bandwidths characteristics are different for different modulation modes. A great modulation bandwidth can be obtained through coupling strength modulation, almost unlimited. In order to acquire the modulation output without expansion, distortion and time delay, the microring resonator modulator should be biased at critical coupling point.
